    طب الأسنان الشرعي

    بدأ الاهتمام بطب الأسنان الشرعي في أمريكا منذ عام 1986 ,حين عين الجيش الأمريكي طبيب أسنان شرعي في مركز خاص في هاواي للتعرف على ضحايا الجيش في الحرب.
    ثم أنشأ قسم للطب الشرعي في ميامي,ومهمته :
    - أن يحفظ السجلات السنية و الصور الشعاعية السنية الخاصة بالجثث المجهولة الهوية
    - كما تؤخذ طبعات للأسنان
    - وفي حال وجود عضات تؤخذ طبعات لها
    - وتجرى عملية إعادة بناء المعالم التشريحية للوجه.
    هناك فريق يسمى فريق الاستعراف السني تابع لولاية جنوب فلوريدا D.I.R.T ويشارك الفريق في عمليات التشريح و الاستعراف.
    و قد أظهرت تفجيرات اوكلاهوما و تفجيرات مركز التجارة العالمي و تفجيرات نفق لينكولن دور طب الأسنان الشرعي حيث تم إنشاء مركز خاص في أماكن التفجيرات مع استعمال أجهزة تصوير شعاعية محمولة من أجل القيام بالمقارنة .

    و استعملت طريقة التصوير الشعاعي الرقمي الذي يعتمد على نظام المطابقة السني على الكومبيوتر الذي يشار له بWin/D :
    والذي يستطيع تصنيف آلاف الملفات و يقوم بمطابقتها
    و يمكننا بهذه الطريقة أن نرسل كافة البيانات عبر الإنترنت
    وطريقته تقوم على استخدام صورة شعاعية بانورامية على الفوتوشوب كقاعدة ندخل عليها البيانات المأخوذة من الجثة من حشوات قلوع و جسور ثم نقارنها بالصورة البانورامية ما قبل الوفاة.
